I was reminiscing about the good old days with a friend the other day. We got talking about some of the brilliant old comedy shows that we used to watch back in the 1970’s

She was saying that one of her favourites used to be Fawlty Towers with the brilliant John Cleese.

I had to agree that this show was British comedy at its very finest, and certainly caused a great amount of laughter, something that nowadays seems to be sadly lacking.

We got on to talking about the stars of the show and actually had a bit of a row about John Cleese and his real life wife. My friend was absolutely convinced that John Cleese had been married to Prunella Scales, who played his other half in the show, but I knew he was actually married to Connie Booth who played the character of Polly.

It’s strange that such a silly conversation can get so out of hand, but you know what it’s like when 2 women think they are right, nobody likes to back down and admit that they are wrong.

Naturally in the end we decided the best way to find out which one of was right was to Google the answer. Naturally it was me who was correct, which didn’t go down very well with my mate.

She said that perhaps I should think about booking a self catering Torquay holiday. I said that I would rather visit some of the hotels in Devon in the hope that one of them might actually have a real life Hotel owner like Basil Fawlty.

If you fancy a holiday in Torquay there are plenty of great activities you could join in with. One of my friends who organises bowling holidays for her Club was pretty impressed with Torquay during a recent visit. She thought that Torquay was so great that she has already booked up for a couple of bowling tournaments for next year.

I bet she is hoping that not all Hotel owners from Torquay are like Basil Fawlty, on the other hand, there would never be a dull moment!!
