Stay in a cottage in Wales

Consider Wales, and what comes to your mind? What I see are: rugged mountainous regions, rolling hills and of course the sheep grazing in the valleys. Wales, in a world where natural landscapes are rare, retains a certain charm and simplicity. It could account for the fact that visitors numbers are exceeding 13 million per year!

There is something for everyone in this country, castles, plenty of wide open spaces and a great choice of adventure sports for all levels. Another fascinating option when considering things to do in Wales, is exploring the ancient mines and caves litter the hillsides.

The history of Wales has been dramatic and rich, with conflicts and battles and royal misdemeanors. Wales boast an enormous amount of castles for a small country, most of which were built 900 to 1000 years ago and refllect architectures from both ancient and modern styles. For example, Beaumaris Castle on the Isle of Anglessey, which was started in the 13th century, is a fine piece of British medieval military architecture. Wales also has many chuches and abbey, as well as its medieval castles most of which are available to the public to visit. Whilst you are enjoying the atmosphere of the historical past, you could visit one of the many art galleries or soak up the culture in the National museum.

If checking out Welsh history is not your idea of perfect weekend breaks in Wales, there is plenty of scope for indulging in all sorts of adventure sports. There are many activities on offer including hiking, kayaking, surfing and bike riding.

Although the perfect holiday is one that lets you dictate the pace that you want to go. Holiday cottages in Wales are the perfect location for a lazy vacation when you decide to do as little or as much as you fancy. A cottage, unlike a hotel, lets you make your own decisions and plans and removes the need to worry about other people and their habits. It’s one of the best ways to enjoy some quality time with the family and friends, away from the bustle of daily life.
