What should you do when you encounter these animals in Sri Lanka?

Ok so your prepped for your holiday in the great unknown, with tour guide ready. So what is there that should really concern you if you embark on one of those safaris in Sri Lanka?

  1. The Elephant is probably something that you would be dying to see when on any safari. However these animals can be extremely deadly, although these animals have been domesticated, when mating season approaches, and sometimes at random moments, elephants go through a phase could Musth, which quite simply translated means “Madness”.
  2. There are some animals that you will naturally have a fear of, such as the Leopard. These are some of the most perfectly adept predators in the world, so there is one good reason not to come across them. If you are confronted by one, experts suggest you stand your ground! There are only a small number of these beasts in Sri Lanka, so finding one will be tricky any way.
  3. This one is debatable by some, and everything depending on how it reacts depends on how you act. This is the Sambar Deer, a beast of all dears, extremely large. These animals have a relaxed attitude, just make sure that you don’t agitate them. When they all get on the move, each one of these weighing around 250 kilos, not a good idea to stand in front of them.
  4. If your bored of hearing about mammals here are a couple of reptiles. This is probably the easiest animal to annoy and aggravate, the Swamp Crocodile is a particularly nasty animal. Keep your your distance as much as possible from this one, they are deceptively fast on land.
  5. Finally is a lizard, but it is quite a large one. The Monitor lizard is a large and powerful reptile measuring about 7 feet in length. Do not get in this animals way!

Still fancy Sri lanka holidays, in all realities, these animals are never going to be a problem on your vacation. If you want something more relaxing maybe you should try Luxury holidays, how about Dubai holidays?
